We design our mining operations to be resilient, but in rare cases – such as power outages, infrastructure issues, or other unforeseen events – mining activity may be temporarily paused. Here’s what happens to your contract if that occurs.
Planned vs. Unplanned Downtime
Downtime can fall into two categories. In either case, Ridgeline manages downtime in a way that protects your contract value.
Planned downtime: Scheduled maintenance or upgrades
Unplanned downtime: Events outside of our control, such as power outages or other “acts of God”
What happens to my contract during an outage?
If mining must be paused:
Your contract is temporarily suspended, not canceled
No mining time is lost during the suspension
Mining resumes once operations are restored
Contracts may be paused individually, by group, or across the platform depending on the scope of the issue.
How you’ll be notified
Transparency is a priority – we don’t pause contracts silently. You will always be kept in the loop. You’ll receive a notification if your contract is suspended - the notification will include the reason and context for the pause. Depending on the length of the suspension, we will provide updates along the way (solutioning, timelines, etc.). Likewise, you will receive a follow-up notification when your contract is reinstated.
What happens when service is restored?
Once mining operations resume, you don’t need to take any action – everything is handled for you:
Your contract is automatically reinstated
Any paused time is added back to your contract
Your new contract end date is reflected in your dashboard
Payouts resume automatically based on your payout settings
Will I lose payouts or mining rewards?
No. During a suspension:
Mining is paused
Rewards do not accrue
No contract time is lost
Summary
Contracts are paused, not terminated, during outages
Users are notified at suspension and reinstatement
Lost time is added back to your contract
Your dashboard updates automatically
Payouts resume once mining restarts
